Five checks before you shortlist a machine
1. Define the part
Prepare a section drawing and mark every cut, hole, slot and end feature. Include material grade, finish and the tolerances that matter.
2. Check usable capacity
Separate axis travel from usable machining range. Check short parts, angle-dependent cutting limits and space taken by fixtures and tools.
3. Compare the full cycle
Consider loading, clamping, machining, unloading and changeovers. Compare equipment using the same representative production list.
4. Review the installed configuration
Clarify tooling, blades, software, electrical supply, compressed air, floor space and handling access. List what is included and what is optional.
5. Agree how to accept the equipment
Define sample parts, inspection methods, supplied documents, delivery terms and support responsibilities before ordering.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose between a three-, four- and five-axis center?
Start with the faces and features on the part. More axes can provide additional tool access, but fixture clearance, tool reach and the actual machining sequence still need to be checked. A drawing is more useful than an axis count alone.
Does the maximum cutting section apply at every angle?
Do not assume it does. The blade approach and clamping space change with the angle. Provide both the section drawing and the required angles so the usable cutting envelope can be checked.
What should I send for a quotation?
Send the material, section dimensions, longest and shortest workpieces, required operations, daily output, installation country and power supply. Add drawings and sample photos by email or WhatsApp.
Can I request a sample processing test?
Tell us which profile and operations you would like assessed. Test availability, sample quantity, tooling, costs and the acceptance method need to be agreed for the proposed equipment.
What are the price and lead time?
Both depend on model availability, configuration, tooling and the order schedule. Request a current quotation with a defined scope and delivery terms.
What about installation, training and spare parts?
Specify the help you need during the enquiry. Confirm the responsible party, delivery method, language, costs, warranty scope and spare-parts arrangements in the quotation and contract.
Can you provide certification documents?
Document availability and applicability must be confirmed for the specific model and destination. Ask for relevant documents during the quotation review.
